Jeffrey, I am your father

One of the handouts we received this past week contained a hints at Frank's gas mask that he uses frequently being compared to Jeffrey's father’s oxygen mask to create a link between Frank and Jeffrey’s father. With this symmetry and Jeffrey’s coming of age tale, his tendencies toward Frankish behavior, his disgust for Frank, the love triangle between Frank, Dorothy and Jeffrey along with Frank referring to Dorothy as “mommy” all alludes to a Freudian interpretation of this film of Jeffrey trying to over take his ‘father’ figure Frank so that he can have the ‘mother’, Dorothy, all to himself. I thought this was an interesting observation so I thought I would expand on it and see what other’s opinions were.
